HostDime to Break Ground on $25 Million Orlando Data Center in Q1 2016
Quote:Global data center infrastructure provider HostDime is set to break ground on a new 88,000 square foot data center in Orlando, Florida, in the first quarter of 2016. According to a recent announcement by the company, the $25 million facility will be on a five-acre parcel of land, visible from Interstate 4, one of central Florida’s main roadways.
Designed by Baker Barrios Architects, the facility will house all of HostDime’s 130 US-based employees. The seven-story building will include three floors of data center space. With HostDime’s existing flagship Florida data center nearing capacity the new facility will expand its existing products and serve its international customer base, which includes government clients.
The announcement of the new data center and headquarters comes more than a year after HostDime opened up a new corporate office in Research Park, Orlando. Employees working in this office will be relocated to the new building, which is less than a half-mile from the current office.
According to HostDime, the category 5 hurricane-rated facility will include space for over 35,000 servers, more than a dozen Tier 1 bandwidth providers, full Tier 4 redundancy and in-line hardware-based DDoS attack protection. The data center will be completed at the end of 2016 when all new HostDime clients will be placed in the new facility.
“Back in 2003 when HostDime was a ‘startup’, many people would ask us, ‘Why are you building a data center in Orlando?’ and I would reply ‘Why not?’. Fast forward to today and Central Florida is seen as a major technology epicenter in the Southeastern United States,” – Manny Vivar, CEO and VP of Global Operations said in a statement. “This facility will be a major peering connection for companies to connect in a fast growing Central Florida region. The caliber and uniqueness of this facility can only be found in major metro areas such as New York or Los Angeles. We are taking a unique approach with this facility to be a marriage of client hospitality and data center infrastructure services. You will be able to step into this facility and never think about having your services elsewhere again with all the client amenities we are offering.”
